BEFORE: the original configuration had a utility box to the left of the fridge. by flipping the access to the right side: I was able to create more counter space by moving the fridge to the far left.
After shot of the completed transformation
the owners had an armoire that had sentimental value, so we incorporated it into the kitchen by turning it into the pantry.
an extra deep base cabinet on the left allows for a generous appliance garage without interfering with tasks. the cabinet above the range mimics the etched glass inserts in the armoire. it is set off with a higher elevation and a wood crown moulding.
look at the cabinets all in open position. extra deep drawers. the appliance garage opens up out of the way. bi-fold doors don't open into your face. the base drawers are extra deep.
you can see the custom made wrought iron light rail at the bottom of the upper cabinets. I used the same detailing at the top of all the uppers as well as custom pulls on the fridge.
a barn style sliding door made of mahogany and beveled glass lend a bit of provocative privacy.
if you look where the floor meets the interior wall at the left, you can see the curve that opened up the pinched feeling before. the sliding door has matching French doors at the far end that lead to the closet.
new shower tile, a deep seat at the front edge of the tub doubles as storage under the seat.
laser etched stone tiles create a soothing mandala at the back wall of the tub. the rest of the room is clad in a soft Venetian plaster. the drawer under the tub (far left) houses additional toiletries.
the vanity boasts copper clad mirrors, a matte finished stone slab counter, and a hidden pullout in the center where the towels hang behind a copper wire mesh, also visible in the lower drawers.
the secondary bath has a pierced wood mirror with LED backlighting, floor to ceiling stone walls and a custom vanity with open display.
loft living
Although the owners of this downtown loft had long considered a kitchen and bath remodel, an unfortunate flood situation brought it to the forefront.

Kitchen: I was able to convert a very small, cramped work space into a spacious, hard-working kitchen with close to double the storage space. Wrought iron detailing against a Calacatta Gold marble backsplash and an engineered stone countertop give tons of character. I used a number of Blum specialty hardware items to add to the functionality of the space.

Master Bath: The nature of "loft living" is the open plan, but the master bathroom had no door to the room, and the 36" door to the closet was so big that when opened inward, it hid half of the clothing. I opened up the center by curving both the W/C & the shower walls. Safety and utility wee served by extending the tub deck for a sitting bench and to hide additional toiletries.

Secondary Bath: The focal wall was enhanced by backlighting a hand carved wooden mirror.
stone walls and Venetian plaster and to the hand crafted ambience.
